And so Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts has sadly come to an end with its third season. While it’s a shame that we’ve only had less than a year filled with new Kipo episodes at the least got a satisfying ending. The main conflict was resolved, Kipo and friends are onto new adventures, and HMUFA is going strong. Still, we have a few lingering questions after the finale that we dug into to make sure everything was clear.
What happened to Emilia?
Despite Kipo’s repeated attempts to offer Emilia her hand in friendship she rejected it at every turn. Even after she was cured from her Mega form she still tried to kill Kipo. Mandu had to leap in to save the day. This bite from Mandu made Emilia lose her balance and fall into the remains of her old Burrow… which was still occupied by Fun Gus. Originally introduced in season two, Fun Gus was a strange child-like mute creature made up of an orange fungus. Kipo and the rest of the team went into the old burrow to find Kipo’s anchor but were unknowingly stepping into Fun Gus’ clutches. The mute creature wanted to play with the team but while Kipo thought that was adorable it quickly became apparent this creature wasn’t going to let the team alive. It wanted “Forever Friends” and it took the intervention of Mulholland to get them to safety. Fun Gus won’t kill her but having to play games with that creature forever is perhaps a fate worse than death. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts doesn’t play around.
Is Scarlemagne Dead?
During the battle with the Mega Mute Emilia, Scarlemagne barreled into her way in order to stop her from finishing off Kipo. This gave the Mega enough time to take control of Emilia’s mind but Scarlemagne was badly injured in the process. Kipo managed to make it to his side as he was dying, where the former villain finally got to have a family. He even told Kipo with his dying breath to call him Hugo. While Scarlemagne did die he wasn’t forgotten, a statue of him being built with an inscription that read, “Hugo Oak.”
Did Benson and Troy End Up Together?
We’ve loved Benson and Troy from the moment they showed up in season one and have written about their charmingly cute romance. We were delighted to see that the two are still together in the five-year time skip. Benson opened a successful restaurant (getting six thumbs up) and Troy helps him out when he has to duck out. The two even smooch!
Did the Mutes Get An Anti-Cure?
In Season 3 Emilia managed to make mass quantities of the cure that would turn Mutes back into regular animals. Many of our favorite Mutes, including Yumyan Hammerpaw, were cured. Sadly an anti-cure was never found, as Yumyan was seen in the finale still in his cat form. At least he still gets to enjoy Benson’s food.
